Formula D Round 1 Long Beach 2016

Formula Drift Streets of Long Beach,

Presented by BlackVue

The big news this round was a previously unused rule that allowed FD to forgo qualifying, and auto fill the top 32 bracket with last years standing. Some drivers thought this was the best move as the rain and slick track conditions would result in more wrecks and unsafe conditions.

Rain plagued the event all weekend forcing drivers to deal with wet and dry conditions. Luck for the fans the sky’s cleared for top 16.  With a clear, dry track drivers made up for lost track time, some of the best battles we have seen in years took place at Streets.

Formula D’s new partnership with BLACKVUE cameras proved to be a true step forward, fans were able to download an app allowing them to choose between cameras and look all over the track. Fan control and on-board live streaming cameras will help attract new fans and a larger crowd to the sport.

Chelsea Denofa in his BC Racing / GT Radial BMW earned his first ever Formula D win. Beating big names like Gittin, Forsburg, and Gushi, and Aasbo. With every battle fans got louder routing for an underdog like Denofa, this was his first win and we cant wait to see how he handles Road Atlanta.
